Spina Bifida Clinic

Spina Bifida Clinic _edited.jpg

The RHC combined spinal bifida clinic was established in 2016. It is a joint clinic involving paediatric neurosurgery, paediatric urology and paediatric orthopaedics and enables a rapid multi-disciplinary assessment of patients whilst reducing the number of hospital attendances. The clinics is held monthly, but additional outpatient reviews can be arranged to ensure rapid clinical decision making when needed.

Patients are reviewed, at least, once per year and have an individual consultation with each speciality; the urology specialist nurses can also complete uroflow assessments.

The Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Scotland Charity are also present to support patients and their families and explain what additional help and resources are available to them.
